Accessing Medical and Dental Services
Many people with high support needs, complex communication needs and/or who at times have behaviours which challenge others can experience a range of barriers to accessing health services. Microboards Australia support individual microboards, and others interested in planning for better health outcomes, to explore planning for health and wellbeing through tailored workshops and individual coaching. Contact us for more information. An introduction to some of the approaches to health and wellbeing planning which families have shared, and our report on Delivering Better Health Outcomes for People with High Support Needs and/or Challenging Behaviour and their Families and Carers, is available via the link below.

In 2019, Microboards Australia and Uniting Care West partnered to develop a series of frameworks, resources and tools to support a culturally informed discussion about restrictive practices and supporting people who may show the challenges they face through behaviour we can find difficult. These resources were developed based on the original ITaBW card set along with the Restrictive Practice ‘what are your rights’ easy read and plain english versions of the Code of Practice for the Elimination of Restrictive Practices, WA Department of Communities.
You can find these resources and tools to use in your support for others here
